I know…it’s only taken me 3 months to write my Monster Baby Boy Room Reveal. This room was a labor of love, but I’m smitten with it! It’s so fun and bold and I love love LOVE the color palette. Can’t go wrong with teal, green and navy. I drew these little monsters last year and I loved them so much I decided to use them for the theme! I also love the movie Monsters, Inc., so the colors were really inspired by that movie (plus, it made it easy to accessorize for the room).
The first thing we did was splurge on a crib. With our other kids, we were renting and we just got a cheap (safe) crib and didn’t do much with the decor. I REALLY wanted to finally create a cute nursery, so I knew I had to give a little. I bought this crib at Babies R Us and I love it. It’s also really sturdy and turns into a toddler bed and then a headboard, so we can get many years out of this baby. My husband made the other furniture pieces (one is our old end table and the other is my daughter’s old changing table). We just repainted and stained them to match the crib. They look amazing in this room!
The fabric is custom fabric I had printed at Spoonflower and I hired Little Moose by Liza to sew the bed skirt, fitted crib sheets, changing cover and blanket. It’s awesome to be able to create a room from scratch (plus, it was budget friendly!)
I found a zig zag shelf like this on Houzz and knew it would be perfect for Beau’s room. I covered some books in my patterns and used some stuffed animals we already had around the house. Once again, my hubby came through for me.
I didn’t want to buy a new lamp, so I refurbished an old one. This project cost me about $3 and it’s super cute, too!
Another DIY project was these cute flag art pieces. I wanted them to look like ribbons, so I had my husband cut them out at the bottoms. I used my Silhouette Cameo to create this. It turned out PERFECT for this space!
And we can’t forget that awesome accent wall! Seriously, this took Sean forever to complete and it’s just PERFECT. I’m not kidding…those lines are amazingly straight. I did help with marking the wall, but Sean did the majority of the work. People are always so impressed with it as they should be.
Tutorial for this wall, the ribbon art pieces and lamp will be coming shortly, so make sure you sign up for the newsletter to keep updated!
This little guy might not care so much right now, but I’m sure he’s going to love this when he’s a little older!
