My daughter LOOOOVES writing stories and drawing pictures. She creates her own “books” on a daily basis. I created these pretty Printable Princess Journals so she could be creative without making the mess (seriously…paper EVERYWHERE over here). The books are super easy to make and it keeps all that creativity contained!
I love these journals because they’re perfect to give alone, or the will go great with a princess gift, like these Disney Princess Toys. They’re so cute and shimmery! I placed them on her bed with the journal and surprised her when she got home. Since her bedroom is already a Princess room, it looked really pretty! Also, check out my tutorial for the glitter princess crown pillow. It matches the printables!
I used to go to my room after school and write and draw for hours. I was a dreamer then, and I’m one now. It amazes me how much my daughter is like me. When I was older, my dad told me I should be a graphic designer, but I didn’t think I could make money doing it, so I went to college in something I wasn’t passionate about. It was such a wasted opportunity, and I want my daughter to know that passion is always the best option. She knows about “Strawberry Mommycakes” and told me she wants to work for me someday. I believe it’s because she has a passion for art and creativity and it’s something that I didn’t realize I was teaching her. I want her to know that she can accomplish AMAZING things (and I’ll still love her even if she doesn’t work for me! Ha!)
To make these Printable Princess Dream Journals, you’ll need:
- Free Printables, for personal use only
- White Card Stock
- White paper
- Sticker Paper or Glue Stick
- Sewing Machine or stapler
- Scoring Board (optional)
- Print out the cover on card stock, the lined sheets on regular white paper.
- Cut around all the pages, but do not cut down the middle at the dotted line.
- Score the cover at the dotted line, then fold in half.
- With the regular paper, fold the pages in half and the dotted line.
- Place the sheets inside the cover, then sew down the middle (if you don’t have a sewing machine, you can stapel them together).
- Print out the writing prompts on sticker paper or on regular white paper.
- Cut them all out, then place them at the top of the pages in the book.
You can place the sayings in the book yourself, or put them in a baggie and let her do it. Wrap up your Princess dolls and use the Printable Princess Dream Journal as a “gift tag” since there is a place to write a name on the back of the book. You can find the Disney Princess Royal Shimmer Dolls, Disney Princess Petite Doll Collection, Disney Princess Sing & Shimmer Toddler dolls, and Little Kingdom Ariel’s Sea Castle at Toys “R” Us in the Disney Princess aisle.
You can find all 11 Disney princess in the Royal Shimmer Doll Line (they have beautiful shimmery ombre dresses). Ariel’s Castle has so many fun details, like the slide and swing, plus a 3″ Ariel doll. It’s also compatible with other princess dolls in the Kingdom line. The toddler Ariel doll is gorgeous. She has the prettiest eyes (never thought I would say that about a doll…but it’s true) and she sings “Part of Your World” when you press her necklace. My daughter is smitten with her. You can also get Jasmine and Rapunzel in the shimmer toddler line. The Petite Doll is super cute (we got Tiana and she comes with a little frog).
My daughter loves watching all the Disney Princess movies and I love that they teach girls great life lessons. I teach her to be kind, courageous and strong at home, but it helps to have some movie role models that have those traits. My daughter got an award this year for being kind and I am so proud of her for being caring. I love this blog post by Jennifer Lee (Disney’s Academy Award-winning director and writer) encouraging girls to Dream Big!
What do you do to encourage your little dreamer?

Thank You for sharing 🙂 A baby girl is on the way and I’ve been looking for ways and themes to decorate her nursery room. I’ve been considering a mermaid themed room before but now I want a Princess themed room. Thank you for this wonderful idea 🙂
