I threw this Easy and Inexpensive Robot Birthday Party for my son, and it turned out SO cute! I pulled this together in ONE day, and my son LOVED it!
Before you think I’m super on top of things, I should let you know that this party was kind of a MOM FAIL. First of all, I should never wait until the DAY BEFORE a birthday to plan a party. Second of all, I didn’t realize how much he likes parties until this year. Max is pretty oblivious, so I thought I could get by with taking him somewhere fun to eat and giving him presents. Seriously, this kid doesn’t know he’s on the planet sometimes, but he KNOWS birthdays mean parties in this house.
So, I did what any mom would do, and I ran to Target and got the necessary items like the banner, display boxes, and tissue tassels. The dollar sections and party sections saved me. It was SO nice not DIYing the decor this time.
But waiting until the last minute for the food and decor wasn’t even the worst part!!! Max helped me put everything together; I had it all setup, then we went out for lunch. When we came back, Max ran into the house and looked all around and asked, “Where are all the people?” The biggest drawback to not planning is that you don’t have time to invite anyone to the party. So, I, of course, distracted him with treats and presents. AND IT WORKED!
If this party hadn’t been tainted by the fact that I forgot to invite people to my son’s 5th birthday party, I would be proud of this setup. Those robot toppers? They’re made from chocolate (tutorial coming soon). Super easy and I love the way they looked. My son specifically asked for chocolate cupcakes, and I used the toppers to brighten them up a bit.
I also made salted caramel cake pops which are totally out of my comfort zone, but they were delicious and adorable!
Luckily, I had the robot printables from my Banana S’mores Hot Chocolate Recipe and Robot craft. Max loved the robot so much he asked to have a robot birthday party. I love the way the juice boxes and robot cotton candy turned out! You can learn how to make printables like this with my new Printable Crush Basic Printable Design Course!

That’s a pretty amazing party for just throwing it together, Erin! 🙂 – It looks better than my set-ups I spend WEEKS on!

Oh, gosh…the practice I’ve had! I used to spend months planning a party, so trust me, you’ll get there! I just wish I had it together enough to invite actual PEOPLE to the party! lol
