My very favorite memories as a child were from our yearly family road trips. Every summer, we would travel from New Mexico, sometimes as far as Maine and back again…in a car. I’m not really sure how my mom kept sane during those 5 weeks…but obviously she had fun too because we kept going back. I definitely want to carry on the tradition with my family, so as we plan our family trips this Holiday season, I wanted to create something to keep the littles busy during our long drives. I made these amazingly adorable Holiday Road Trip Booklets and I’m so excited to put them to use!
To make these, you’ll need:
- My FREE Holiday Road Trip Printables, for personal use only
- White Paper
- Scissors or a paper trimmer
- Hole punch
- Mini Binders (mine were 7″X9 1/8″)
- Binder Pockets (5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″), optional
- Crayons or colored pencils
You’ll just print these off, cut them out and punch holes in the side. Use the binder pockets to separate each holiday. Place crayons or colored pencils in the pockets along with the Holiday “title pages” from the printables. I put these together in minutes (well, not counting design time…aren’t you glad you have a friend like me that does that for you?)
These printables include an activity page for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, plus title pages and some blank drawing pages. The Halloween game is a Corn Maze and Thanksgiving is a page of Tic Tac Toe games. For Christmas, I created a Christmas Car Spot game. Your child will sing his or her favorite Christmas song whenever they spot a car that is the color on their printable. They’ll circle the cars that they have seen and the first person to spot all the car colors wins!
I made sure I printed off lots of blank pages for the kids so they’ll be entertained for hours!

Before we head out on our first road trip of the season, I wanted to make sure we were safe to go. I went to Discount Tire and a FREE Safety Check. I got there at about 8:15 and left at 8:30. They were so friendly and speedy! And the person that checked my tires was really nice about me taking his picture…that’s what I call good service! For the 5 minutes we had to wait, my little man was thoroughly entertained by all the tires in the waiting area. This boy loves all things about cars! To get your FREE safety check, just ask an associate and they’ll help you out. It was the easiest thing EVER!
Everything ended up being great with the car, so we’re good to go! I’m ready to make some memories with my little family. I have to say my favorite thing about the family road trips we took was the food. My little brother and I have an ongoing fight of which ice cream is better between a place in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania. I’ll take the one in PA any day (and he seems to enjoy his double scoop in a waffle cone just fine). All the arguments and hours upon hours in the car were so worth it and I have a feeling my kids will feel the same way when they’re grown and old like me 😉
What are your road trip traditions and where do you go? Would love to hear some of your favorite memories!
